Rod Ends, Uni's, basically all grease nipples : Castrol EPL2

... and probably a good time to move away from that mechanic.

 

Out of intrest what oil did you put in your tranf to make it crack, i ran engine oil in my transfer for 2000k,s and was all good

i use castrol apxt (know also as lmx) for everything in all honesty. wheel bearings, cvs, unis, ball joints.
i used it at work for years and years with no dramas either.

I can't remember but it was a penrite oil.
A couple of weeks after I noticed oil dripping in the trany area so I squirted the whole thing down and took it for a test drive but couldn't find a leak. I un-did the plug to check the oil and bang no oil left. But I notice the crack whilst I was under the car, it was pretty long.
It was in my old 87 MK not the GU though. He just put it down the oil choice cause I didnt take it offroad during that time. I was just driving around the burbs. So there was no large temp changes or anything of that nature.

 

Recommended by Volvo for there trucks and earthmoving equipment.
Everything greased on the GQ every 5000k's and now hitting 500,000K's, everything is factory standard (original parts) and no death wobbles...

If it sees a lot of mud and water use high quality boat wheel bearing grease . Just for the wheel bearings andthe king pin bearings and lmm for the tie rod ends .
